Christmas!!

I am SO EXCITED! Christmas Eve is tomorrow! I have almost all my presents done, Mom is baking the last of the cookies, and Jamie (the cat) knocked over my mini-tree in my room. I hope I get wonderful stuff and that you do too. Also, I have reindeer antlers on. I will post some pictures of my house and other Christmassy things later today.

Yes!

I am so happy and exctited! Guess why? Well, actually, there are two main reasons.

1. Today I am going on a Girl Scout trip to the Hagley Museum. Also, afterwards, Purple Pixie and all her sisters are coming to our house after! And then, I have another Girl Scout meeting tonight!

2. Over the weekend we are getting ready for Christmas! We will decorate our tree, and put up lights and everything! :) :) :) I wonder what our cats will do...

First of all, I'd like to wish Green Bird a very happy birthday! :) Second, I'm going to announce a photo contest. Everyone so far voted Yes! on my poll, so get ready folks!

The theme of the contest is something you are thankful for, in honor of Thanksgiving.

I am thankful for my Mom's great cooking. These are her homemade chicken nuggets with garden tomatoes, pasta and garden basil.

Siblings...They Make The World Go Round

My brother is so funny. He says the strangest things. He always manages to make me laugh, even after we've been fighting. This morning when we were doing math he said:

"My word problem says 38 degrees. Brr."
Mom said: "It's  probably like that outside now."
He replied: "What a coincidence. Or maybe..." Now he started talking in a weird voice "It was mysteriously meant to be..." 

My aunt travels a lot, and she usually brings us things from the countries she visits. I collect dolls (maybe I'll post some pictures) and she sends him soccer jerseys. He got one from Egypt this time. He put it on as soon as he got it yesterday and wore it to bed and is still wearing it now! :P How silly!

Thanksgiving is soon and my grandmother's birthday party is tonight...we are hosting! :)
I am going to be in a play the Monday before Thanksgiving...The Imaginary Invalid, by Moliere, and I am kinda nervous.

I love cats so much! My cat Jamie is sitting on my desk as I write, purring. Now he's gone. I got a book for my birthday back in June about how you can felt cat hair! I made a finger puppet using my cats' hair, and I will post pictures soon. I also just finished a book about this cat who lived in the Spencer Iowa public library! How cool is that? His name was Dewey Readmore Books.I want a library cat for my library!

It's a photo contest entry, everybody!

Here we go...

This is the cherry tree in my front yard. Unfortunately, it is an ornamental cherry tree and does not produce real fruit! ;)  It's flowers and leaves are gorgeous, however, and make up for the lack of cherries.

I took this picture just in time, because Hurricane Sandy is on it's way, and it just might hit us. We were supposed to be going camping, but Mom was all like "no way are we going camping in a hurricane." So we have another trip planned for April instead. Anywho, I hope my picture is good enough for ya, Laura!

Well, a lot of people have been posting about 9-11. That's really scary for me, so I will only post a little. I was only 1 at the time. My mom, dad and I were living in San Francisco, in a tall apartment building. Dad had just left for work, when Mom turned on the TV to watch the news. When she saw it, the tower exploding, she called Dad and was like: Get Back Home Right Now Something Horrible Has Happened. My Dad rode his bike to work back then, so he came home right away. It must have been really scary.

Another sad thing happened today that not many of you may know about. At the library, the flag was flying half mast, and so I asked my mom, Why is the flag at half mast? This morning, the US embassy in Libya was stormed, and the ambassador and several others were killed.

If you have time in your day, a moment of silence for the 9-11 victims and the ambassador and all the countless others who have died..................................................................................................

Hey (or Hay)

I'm back from my farm vacation! I had tons of fun!!!!! Farmer Frank, George and Mrs. Hull, or Sherry (as she wanted us to call her), made the 6 hour car drive really worth it. My Girl Scout troop and I loved all the things we did, like

• Playing with the kittens who live in the barn
• Morning and afternoon chores, when we got to bottle feed calves, lambs, and goats, feeding the pigs, milking the cows, and gathering chicken eggs
• Fishing in the pond
• Making S'mores at the Bonfire
• Going on a hay ride
• And Eating Mrs. Hull's wonderful food!!!!

This weekend I am going on a Girl Scout Trip to a farm in upstate New York. I am leaving early Friday, and then there is a five hour car drive, and when we get there we are going to do all sorts of really cool stuff. I am Sooo excited. I will post about it when I get home!!!!

Yesterday Dad, Brother and I went creeking at White Clay Creek State Park. And, we saw some Daylilies  that had taken root in a fallen down tree over the river! There was a really deep part and a tree that leaned over the river. Someone tied ropes to it, and Dad tried to swing off them. It didn't really work. He jumped off instead. I was really scared to do it, but when I finally jumped off the big tree, it was really fun and I did it again.Brother isn't that good at swimming, so he got on Dad's back and Dad swam him around where he couldn't touch the bottom.

I went last year for the first time ever and I was really nervous because it was my first time at a sleep away camp all week long. Now, I'm just excited. Brother goes to day camp at a state park while I'm gone, so our cats, Adam and Jamie will be lonely. :( they will survive.I AM SOOO EXCITED!!! Does anyone go to camp in the summer?
