IT SNOWED

Hellooooo!

It snowed! It's crisp and white and beautiful outside. My brother and I went sledding almost all day on Sunday. Mom even made us hot cocoa with brunch. I made lots of snow angels and we had an intense snowball battle and I can barely describe how happy this makes me. When the snow starts to stick on the branches and it looks like icing or a lacy shawl or powdered sugar or something I get so excited. Snow is magically beautiful!

Do you know what else is magically beautiful? The White House at Christmas time!

No, I'm not super important guest to a fancy Christmas dinner or something at the White House, but I did get to go on a tour! It was really really amazing. We saw a White Gingerbread House that weighed over 300 pounds. There were 24 Christmas trees in the White House, and I got a picture near the original portrait of George Washington that Dolley Madison saved in the War of 1812.

We also saw the Capitol Building and the Supreme Court ANND the Library of Congress, which was amazing. Riding the metro was lots of fun too, even though it made me a little sick to my stomach.

All of this was amazingly amazing, but I had to get up really early to get on a commuter train to get to D.C. Not just really early. 3:18 AM early!! But it was worth it, and the memories I will probably treasure forever. Unless I become the first woman president of the United States or something. Because then it'd be normal to just hang at the White House with my friends.

NaNoWriMoing

Hey guys! Guess what? It's November!

Hey guys! Guess what I should be doing? Working toward my 40,000 word novel!

National Novel Writing Month is not a National event. It's an event that people from all over the world participate in, and they are all trying to get 50,000 words in one month. This is my first year for the Adult program, and I fell a little behind in the beginning of the month, so I changed my goal to at least 40,000 words.

My novel is a YA book about this girl named Penny Richar who becomes aware that she is being read. As in a book. It's been very interesting to write. The title is Fourth Wall Falling, and it's really fun! I'm excited to share my story. . Here's a cover that was designed for me by NaNo user impossiblepond, who you can find here.

This is what it looks like!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a word goal to reach!

What Is Beautiful?

'Ello, everyone!

My little brother is reading a book for school called "The Search For Delicious." I didn't read it, I have too much else to read, but basically the storyline is the king asks the Main Character to find out what delicious is. But everyone has different ideals of what delicious is. That concept can be applied to many things.

Including beauty.

Is This Beautiful?

Is This Beautiful?

Is This Beautiful?

Is This Beautiful?

Is This Beautiful?

Is This Beautiful?

Am I Beautiful?

Are You?

Really, I think it's all about positivity. That's the most clique thing ever, but I really do think so. Lately I've been more insecure about how I look because that's what teens do. And now I've got circles under my eyes and pimples! But are those things really bad? Maybe they add character to my face. Maybe I look better with them. A person can have stunning cheekbones, big blue eyes, flawless hair, and a perfectly shaped figure, but not be happy. They could still think they're ugly. Or a person could not care what they look like, and not be perfect in every way, but still carry themselves with pride, which makes them beautiful. I dunno. I'm just ranting. But I don't think society's idea of beautiful is the only one. You don't have to have your ribs stick out to be beautiful. You also don't have to have MOST curves (which is a huge insecurity of mine). You can have circles under your eyes and still have beautiful eyes. You can have imperfections and still be beautiful.

What do you think? What Is Beautiful?

P.S. All the pictures except the last one aren't mine. I got them off pintrest.com

Wait..The Government's closed?!

Hey!

So on Tuesday, guess what? The government SHUT DOWN! How do you even do that? It's crazy.

I've been studying current events for school, so this was a pretty exciting addition to my curriculum. I don't know oodles about the situation, but as I understand it, there are some Republicans that are known as the Tea Party who disagree with Obamacare, which is insurance that will be provided for everyone in the country. They have every right to disagree with it, because of the First Amendment and stuff. But it would have been better for them to disagree with it while it was being approved. Because now, they've shut down the government, and not actually stopped the Obamacare law from passing. Yeah.

Also, I was going to be in D.C. today on a field trip with friends and parents!! But not anymore, because the government is closed.

On a more personal level, I read an AWESOME book called Since You Asked. It was REALLY good, and I totally related to the main character and her relationship with her mom. Also, I got a Secondhand Serenade CD from the library. Yay!

Fare thee well!
Go 'Merica!

School, Summer, and Super Stuff

Hi again. I've been gone again. I really am quite bad at this. Anyway...

School started. It's a heavy workload so far, but I've been keeping up. I'm done for the day now...
Team LegMOE is going great! In case you didn't know, that's my First Lego League team, and you can find us here. Other Activities that have started include Teen Top Ten, Field Trips, and my little brother's soccer...
We're also going camping this weekend with the family at Tuscarora State Park. So that's that.

Also I drew this thing...

It's supposed to be a character from this book called Fangirl, which was a really good Young Adult book. So yeah...

I also auditioned for KATS and the WDL Christmas Productions. AND I GOT INTO KATS! YAY! The directors and people were really nice and said I had a beautiful voice and that I got a part in the Greek Chorus. I'm REALLY excited.

And why did I put "Summer" at the top of this post in the title? IT'S STILLLLL SUMMER AND IT WILL BE FOR 2 MORE DAYS OKAY??

Signing off...

Things and a Directioner Rant

I'm here! I didn't desert you! So proud of myself. :D

I was sick. Then I did other things. Purple Pixie came over, and did my makeup! Sorry PP, but that was kinda too heavy, haha. (Ick) Rehearsals for the Youth One Act Festival have been soooooo late. It's on Saturday. It rained this morning and my brother played outside in it.

I READ THE HUNGER GAMES, WATCHED THE MOVIE, AND I THINK I'M OBSESSED. AND I WANNA BE KATNISS FOR HALLOWEEN. THEN I CAN WEAR THE COSTUME FOR THE PREMIER OF CATCHING FIRE TOO. AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.  Another fandom to contend with...
Yesterday was Harry Potter's, Neville Longbottom's, and Joanne Rowling's birthday.

Okay, here goes my Directioner rant.

Nabisco is still selling the Oreos with the "One Direction VIP tickets and Meet and Greet Passes" contest on the package, bu the contest is OVER! I know, I went to their website just now. So that makes me kinda mad. And also BEST SONG EVER OKAY??? IT'S NOT FAIR THEY ARE JUST SO CUTE AND OMG I CANT AKDFAJLKGAFLSK ASHFAJHH ASDFHJKKKL AJKHFALJDSLAG

Sorry about that. Okay, bye! <3

Some thoughts on Time and It's traits

Yay! I did it! July 1st. Now summer has officially started.

Huh. Yay! But time goes so fast. I was looking through my calender to put together my portfolio. And time goes by so swiftly. Weren't we just excited for spring? Wishing for snow? Wasn't it just Christmas? Or weren't we just working on Halloween costumes? Starting school?

But now it's summer '13. I'm a teenager. Plants have grown and died. I failed a course. I got cast in a play. My hair is long again. I grew an inch. I've learned new things. I like new things. I don't like other things I used to like. What I really want is a delay in my childhood so I can enjoy it for just a little longer.

I have returned from an Amazing Journey through the beyond...

Okay, not really. But it sounds better than me being too lazy/busy to post. So I'm really sorry. But I am back! And I have pictures! And! I have stories!

STORY
(This is a fairy-tale mixture/mash-up)

Everyone hates me. My stepmother is evil, my father is dead; all my stepsisters care about is what they will wear to the Valentine’s Day dance. Even my cat isn’t here to console me. He’s outside hunting. Also, I have a cold. Argh! Life stinks.
“We have to get rid of her,” says Emma. (I’m eavesdropping through the door to my sister’s room.)
“How?” replies Sarah.
“I don’t know, but she has to go. She’s just too pretty for her own good. Her hair is perfectly red and groomed. Her clothes are okay. Her teeth are perfect. Her bodywash smells too good. All the guys look at her, and never at us. ”
“She doesn’t even wear any makeup! It’s not fair she looks that great without any effort.” Are they talking about me?
“He we go! I’ve just had an idea. How about we destroy the…” My stepmother touches my shoulder.
“Are there rats in the walls, Rose? Why are you listening to the door?” I shrug, and hope she doesn’t ask more questions of me.
“Go do something interesting. Don’t you have any TV to watch or a book to read?”
“Nope. Just standing here, cooling my face on this door…isn’t it hot for February?” Hannah, my stepmom, looks at me funny and left. When I put my ear back to the door, my sisters are just laughing, and they don’t say anything else. They are up to something, but I have no idea what.

My stepmother is screaming. She’s outside, and I can hear her through the closed windows. She’s at her car. My sisters rush out. They talk to her, but I can’t hear what they are saying. They point something out to her, and she starts to scream again. This time, I can hear what she’s saying.

“ROSE! I WILL GET YOU! YOU WRECKED MY CAR!” As I said, she’s evil. So I run out of my room, down the stairs, and out the back door. I run and run and run out of the neighborhood and down the road. She can’t get me unless she can find me.

The clouds are gathering overhead. It’s going to rain, and I know it. I have no place to go. My friends wouldn’t understand, and I have no boyfriend. My Dad’s relatives all are super crazy, and my mom’s all are in Nevada. So I’m stuck. Out of the frying pan, into the fire, as my dad would say. He had all these silly expressions.
Then I have a thought. I’m an orphan, right? Could I go to an orphanage? No, because I have a legal guardian. Even though she’s evil, I wouldn’t count. So, I have no place to go, 35 bucks, and the clothes on my back. I can’t go back to get more stuff. I decide my first order of action is too find some cheap places to find food. I’ll also need a job. A place to stay will be harder to find. I’m cold, so I go around, ducking into different stores briefly to get warm. I wonder if I’m really pretty, like my sisters say. I don’t have a boyfriend, or anything, and no one’s ever asked me out. Why am I thinking about this now, of all times? Wow. Something smells really good. I follow the smell. It’s a bakery…decorated to look like a gingerbread house. I go in. What else am I supposed to do? A little old lady is arranging cookies in a display case. They look so good. I put 3 dollars on the counter.
“Cookies, please. However many that will get me.” The old lady smiles up at me.
“It’s a dollar fifty for a cookie, dear.” She puts two cookies on the table. “And a slice of pie for good luck.” She plates a piece of pie.
“No, I can’t take that, ma’am. Thanks though.”
“I insist.” She pushed the plate at me with surprising force. So I take it. And eat it. It is so good!! I eat the cookies, too.  They are so good…

I wake up, my face in the pie plate. The old lady is still arranging cookies.
“Oh, good, you’re up. It’s nearly closing time. You stay right there, I’ll be right back.” She walks into the back. I get up and, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, follow her. In the bathroom, she’s making a ton of noise. I risk it and peek in the little window at the top of the door. (I’m pretty tall.)

The old lady’s back is peeking out as she takes off the dress. I turn away, afraid what will be visible after the rest of the dress comes off. When I’m sure it’s safe, I look in again, and the old lady is wearing a black dress, with a ripped skirt and silver bodice. She dons a witch hat, and cackles. I’m not stupid. I get out of there quick. I am really scared of old ladies in Goth costumes. Plus, it’s all a little too Hansel-and- Gretelie for me. I’m out the door… and into the rain.

I’m soaked as I run away from the bakery and out of town, into the western suburbs. I live in the eastern ones, so I should be safe from the evil lady from the bakery and my stepmother. It’s getting dark, so I knock on the first blue front door there is. Blue is my lucky color. It’s really pouring now, and when a guy around my age opens the door, he looks me up and down and lets me in.
“Hey there. You need something?”
“A-a-a place to stay. Umm…your front door is blue, and it was raining, and there are two evil ladies who want to either kill or eat me…and… umm.” Wow, I’m so clever. And he’s so cute.
“Okay then. Umm…come in to the living room, I guess. I’m Jack.” He probably has no idea what to say to that. He gives me some dinner, introduces me to his mom, and shows me to a room. I was going to protest, but it looked so comfortable. He shows me the bathroom. When I come back in, his mom is fiddling with the mattress. She smiles at me and wishes me sweet dreams, and I lay down. I can’t get comfortable. The mattress is lumpy, and I end up lying on my pillows before I finally get to sleep.

In the morning, I inspect my arms. They are bruised. What the heck was in the bed? I tenderly sit down for breakfast. Jack asked me how I slept.
“Okay.”
“Only okay?”Asks his mom. I apologize for being rude, and then tell her about the lumpy bed. She smiles, and Jack says:
“My mom is weird, and she’ll only let me go out with girls who can feel peas. So…umm…Rose? You want to go out with me Saturday?”
“Yes. Of course.” Because that was the perfect fairy tale ending.

Let it Snow,Pretty please and other things

Hey! Sorry I haven't been posting!!

I've been okay. My dad went on a business trip, and I've had school (still have to catch up on edits and corrections!) and life has progressed.

I really REALLY want it to snow. Real snow, not flurries, not sleet or freezing rain, just snow.
Snow to make snowmen,
snow to sled in,
snow to catch on my tongue.
Snow to build snow forts,
snow to roll in and not see the grass.
Hey! It's a poem.

I also want everyone to know how much I love to sing. Unfortunately, I'm not very good at it, and I want to audition for a play, Snow White, at a public Children's theater. But I have to sing. In front of people. People I don't know. I'll just have to practice...a lot.

Sorry this was such a long post, if you are bored, you can stop reading now. I'm almost done.

Last Satuary, not only was my Aunt visiting, but it was Zayn's (from One Direction) birthday. He turned 20. My cousin turned 18. My other cousin is turning 12. We will now be the same age for a few months. She's awesome. I love her. My almost 12 year old cousin.

That's it. I'm done now.
